The United States Navy needs a new Cruiser class of warship. The Ticons are getting old and are due to start retirement in just a few years and as of today. There is zero real news about any new Cruisers which need to replace the Ticons. The Ticons should not be retired. The Ticons should go through a life extension process. This is a must.
If you read my Naval warfare writings from old to today. You will see that I've evolved out of ship counts and into Missile cell counts. While at the same time empowering(selling) our actual friendly neighbors to buy from us so as to cause our costs to also go down. Which include service and repairs.
NOT TURKEY!!!
BUT, you still need a lot of surface ships and more than twice the number of attack submarines being made today. You just cannot get away from numbers. Which is why you add COWA's to support ships to every deployed fleet. Follow along little duckies. I do agree with the FSA 355 ship assessment but, I also think that you need far more missile cells than what has ever been proposed. You folks in the Navy and in government must acknowledge that new definitions have been made with the new generation of warships of today. This is a very necessary acknowledgement. Before you build anything new. Even the definitions a leader must define for everyone else to follow. If you do not define then your not leading.

Necessary requirements from basics to future proofing any new Naval Cruiser design:
1). Size should far exceed 600 feet or 182 meters. I'm thinking more in the lines of 200-
260 meters in length. Especially all of the stuff I'm gonna cram into it and everyone wants their helicopter or Osprey decks. Go wider than normal on the width maybe even as much as 12-
15% of length. Especially, since the Panama Canal has been widened. China has just fielded their Type 55 Destroyer and that is the new definition of the size and displacement of what a modern day destroyer is. I'm a firm believer if you are the leader then it is you who gets to define what is without whining or complaining that China is wrong in the naming characteristic of their new 590 foot ship. The USA should build three Cruisers. The new definition of a light Cruiser which must exceed the new Chinese Destroyer in capabilities and displacement. The new definition of Cruiser which must exceed the capabilities of the new light Cruiser. Then build the third a Heavy Cruiser. Which must come close in size to the Russian cold war era Battle Cruiser. All packed with Universal VLS Missile Cells. Don't forget to read #17 just to tag along like a duckling or an enlisted man would or should call it a Can of Whoop @$$ (COWA). If the US Navy does decide it wants several Battle Cruisers(build 10) to compete with the Russian old cold war Kirov ships. Then they each must exceed the length of those old cold war battle cruisers from Russia and be nuclear powered for future tech. How about a America Class hull with nuclear power for the American Battle-Cruiser. Then you can offer our true friends like Great Britain, Germany and other European nations, Australia, Japan and Israel to buy them. That makes at least ten hulls. Which means cheaper for the USA.
(NOT TURKEY) All Classified materials must be removed from Turkey ASAP or a long time ago as in before the phake Coup.
2). The top appearance needs to be more stealth or aerodynamic. The Ticons look like a brick wall facing the wind. The Ticon is an aerodynamic brick. I'm sorry if my comment is insulting. But, the Ticon is a cold war ship. I'm not saying to retire them either. They should be fully BMD capable and given to the Coast Guard or to an offshoot of the Department of Homeland Security. Also, because of all of the emerging energy weapons threats of DEW's, LASER's and EMP's. All souls should remain inside of the ship as much as possible. The top of the ship should have coatings and materials which aid in either or both absorption of energies and redirected repulsion of energies at multiple frequency bandwidths. Even the command deck should have the option of closing all windows for added protection and still be able to fight with full sight and sensors.
3). Continuous and never ending Cruising speed must exceed 35 knots. After all it is a cruiser. It must be able to stay with and exceed the speed of the aircraft carrier it is designed to protect.
4). Power generation. Must exceed today's requirements. The new energy weapons is just right around the corner and it is more than LASER. These are the flavors of High Powered DEW. This is because of what China and Russia are doing and have done and will do more of. Go nuclear power. Any LASER weapon must be able to take out a target at distance in less than a second. Then the LASER weapon must repeat that same action thousands of times without service or maintenance. If it cannot then it is not ready for deployment. Can't forget rail guns. Although their output speeds need to double and without the risk of self destruction. Thousands of shots must be able to be taken without the need for service or repairs.
5). A new generation of Phased Array Panels. The must have a power handling capacity of ten times more than they can handle today. Each cruiser will have 8 very large Phased Array Panels in a 360 degree pattern. Along with separate IFF Phased Array Panels. There will be a weapons mode for high energy output. In which the ship will be able to flood a spot with high energy. All other multiple band/frequency RADAR systems must also have weapons mode as well. So that one target can receive all of the total radiation output from multiple RADAR bandwidths from the ship all at once. Then when the target melts or the people inside die. There is no evidence left behind. Russia and China like no evidence. Besides if Russia and China want to fly or sail close to our ships and not want to make any babies afterwards. Then that is their choice.
6). Must be fully multi mission for all current threats as well as emerging threats. These emerging threats include drone swarms and satellite weapons platforms. The Iranian boat swarm threats with their launching of all of their missiles at once. Need to be able to put cheap lead into the air and be able to launch missiles without shooting your own missiles by chance of accident.
7). 384-768 Universal Missile Cells divided. Even if this is not the
(384)Mark 41 VLS or
(160)Mark 57 VLS. A new generation should be created. Which will utilize all American missiles including nuclear tipped. A universal intelligent plug and play system that self identifies directly to fleet wide common combat computer network. This should not be negotiable. Read #23 as well. The new Israeli Sa'ar 6 Might just be the baseline for the doubling of VLS in each ship class.
8).
16 with multiple independent targeting and self guiding nuclear warheads, anti satellite missile cells which can achieve an altitude beyond LEO and into MEO. Situated directly behind the tallest part of the ship. This should not be negotiable. Read also #14. Hit to kill is preferred standard but a nuke guarantees destruction.
9). CIWS Phalanx. 4 units. These must be mechanically improved to react quicker, function faster and stop more quickly. This is in order to counter incoming hyper-sonic corkscrew missiles.These must be fully integrated into the ships combat system. A new CIWS Jr. must be created with a smaller diameter round so as to be used against small boats and incoming drone swarm clouds(
4 units as well). All manner of CIWS times four units. Which includes at least
four SeaRAM.
10). 4-8+ automated or inside the ship human remote operated
30 mm auto cannon mounts. With their own sensor and RADAR packages. These can also be used against small boats and drone swarms. This is because DEW's is dangerous to human flesh and brain matter. These should be internal and are able to pop out when active. Plus many other remote operated gun placements.
11). A lot of .50 caliber machine gun mounts. If bodies can stand on the outside of the ship. Then they should have the guns and all other shoulder launched rocket systems possible. The point to being on the inside of the ship is to remain inside. If you have to go outside. Then it is going bad or your being heroic and saving lives. Everywhere a person or people can stand. There should be some kind of weapons mount. Even on the inside of the hanger bay. Just in case some bad guy gets a little sneaky. Can be added or combined to number

12). ASW sensors on the bow, aft and mid ship. Tow-able sonar buoy. Torpedo tubes inside the ship facing aft. Below the water line. ASW Torpedoes which come out of the side of the ship at the water line. Acoustic sound emitters for spoofing.
13). BMD Ballistic Missile Defense is now a necessary function. As everyone has Ballistic Missiles which can contain a nuke.
14). ASAT. Anti Satellite weapons defensive and offensive measures. MIRVed Ballistic Missiles which can be mission-ed for either anti-satellite warfare or for surface targets out to the range of already existing Trident missile ranges. Every nation which is capable has a space force.
15). Anti Drone Swarm countermeasures. If any drone can come close to your ship. Then it can take out your sensors and RADAR's. What happens to your ship if 1,000 drones are coming in from the north another 1,000 come in from the south and thousands from the west and thousands from the east. Then the enemy captures your ship and all of your crew will be on television crying mama and then getting tortured and then killed and then paraded. How are you gonna defend your ship? links below.
16). Air Defense. This is covered even though not really mentioned. Coupled with many multi-band RADAR systems and the 500 VLS Universal Missile Cells. New missiles of every kind also need to network into other off ship RADAR data telemetry and satellite networks for guidance assistance and change of orders. This is how the Russian S500 works and how Russia gets out of MAD by their own action and not by words.
17) Aft Towing apparatus or COWA. The new cruisers engines must be able to maintain cruising speed while towing a missile carrier drone ship. There must be both a winched type cable for towing of course and an intelligent hard line data link cable. The drone missile carrier can carry at the ready an additional 200-400-800 VLS Universal Missile Cells. In which the Cruiser would use those missiles first in combat or if a secure and reliable radio network is established. Then send the drone ship much closer to the enemy. Thus, increasing the reaching power of the Cruiser or the entire Aircraft Carrier Battle Group. Think about this. An Aircraft Carrier towing 800 VLS Missile Cell drone ship. A Cruiser towing a 800 VLS Missile Cell drone ship. A destroyer towing a 400 VLS Missile Cell drone ship. A frigate towing a 200 VLS Missile Cell drone ship. Support ships towing 200 VLS Missile Cell drone ships. What kind of fire power does your Aircraft Carrier Battle Group have now? Do the math Mr. Classified man. Then introduce the fear of nuclear. In the days of sail it was all about how many guns and on how many decks. Now it is all about how many missile cells. This is the fastest way to increase missile cell counts in the US Navy. Think about these come along little duckies or COWA's with a number of stealth LRASM's. Your single battle group is approaching the now established South China Seas Artificial Picket. Your Japanese stationed fleet is actively on mission. Both have their orders. The Chinese Navy have activated shore defenses which are really offensive weapons. 80 Chinese war ships are heading toward your single Japanese fleet as they spread out to attack from many angles. 60 ships establish a CAP around their man made islands and planes begin to form up as well as more offensive missile systems are hot. China is moments away from launching their offensives against the US Naval Forces which are legally using international freedom of navigation laws. Because, now every ship has a COWA in tow. LRASM's are launched They are not seen nor are they detected but China seas the missiles launched. Because, everyone sees launched missiles being launched. More than 150 Chinese warships are sunk in less than two hours Plus other land based targets. China becomes blind. Then because you have the COWA's. Your primary ships still have their complete compliments of missiles. The COWA's can return for replenishment as your primary ships can remain on station.
18). Screws. Flare the aft enough and add a third screw and a third engine/drive line. With no reduction of already planned engine sizes and screw sizes. Especially if you decide to go nuclear on certain Cruisers. What about side skirt water jets on either side of the new ships and with a third screw? To complicated? 40-50 knot sustained ship. I do not know how well they have been working on the LCS. But, if service and maintenance is on par or lower. Then why not weld on a pair of water jets? This will be a viable option if the service and repair costs are lower than expected. Please read the LCS links and PDF's below. Really, weld on a pair of water jets. (added on 03 July 2019, deleted certain words because of sexual topic, I didn't know.)
19). The development of missile train missiles. These missile can be fired from land, sea, air or dropped from satellite. They form up into a singular line of missiles heading for a singular spot on a single target lets say a ship near the rear/aft of the ship. While maintaining that specific dive angle and distances apart. The first missile impacts and create a hole. the second missile goes into the hole and makes it a deeper hole and the third and forth and fifth continue to do the same into one hole until the ship is holed. The software created which enable drones to act like one flying machine made up of many. This same software can be used in this Missile Train idea. However the important people want the missiles to strike the ship they each can be pre-programmed flight plans to do what the commander wants to accomplish.
20). Drone launching and retrieval nets. Drones for Combat Air Patrol(CAP). Drones as Kamikazes. 150 plus mile range kamikaze drones which home in on optical RADAR sets like Phased Array as well as other mast mounted communications domed or antenna setups. The Kamikaze drones must have enough explosives to cause the necessary damage which cannot be repaired on ship. A Kamikaze drone can also have the capability to drop an explosive and then suicide itself. Drones which have the necessary return trip range can also drop or stick an explosive device and then return to the ship. Drones can also be used for attacking periscopes and then return to the ship or suicide itself.
21). The next generation of US Navy Frigates and US Navy Destroyers Flight IV or even Flight V must compliment and seamlessly support the missions of the next generation US Navy Cruiser and Ford Class Aircraft Carriers. You cannot build the next generation of US Navy Cruisers without knowing what will be in the Frigates and Destroyers. How each one creates, supports and maintains your pretty warfare bubbles. The current class of Cruisers and Destroyers must have life extensions.
22). DEW and EMP coatings inside of the ship and externally. Also, each module should have EMP and DEW coatings. Everywhere a coating can be applied should be. If what I'm saying is even possible. Even inside of A/C duct works where any signal can migrate through the duct work. Signal Tunneling as which is seen in the atmosphere when certain atmospheric conditions cause signal propagation. It also should be healthy for people. Just like a microwave oven except for many DEW bandwidths.
23). The top deck of the next generation of large surface ship from the US navy will have to be raised up to incorporate the next generation of Intelligent Universal VLS Missile Cells. Inside the ship empty space should be engineered for the addition of adding more VLS Missile Cells. While on top of the ship it just looks like nothing. From inside of the ship it looks like a storage space. In which it is a future storage space for more VLS Missile Cells. Cabling should be in place and protected or holes and tubes pre-cut or pre installed for future use.
24). End of the use of windows and men being on the outside of the ships. All future warships must have remote and automated gun mounts everywhere. This is for safety of the men as the use of DEW's becomes more in common use as both a defensive weapon and an offensive weapon.

A new Expandable Naval Ship yard should be built on the Gulf Coast in Texas. With a capacity to build and dry dock twelve aircraft carriers as well as up to twelve Ballistic Missile Submarines. Plus multiple enclosed buildings for the building of other ships and submarines. Which must be large enough for 900 foot long ships. This naval ship yard should also house new OTHR sites to cover the RADAR holes of the western side of the Gulf of Mexico. Then offer up new services to our friends.

Added on 02-03 July 2019: The US Navy has a very real problem in the training of their command personnel. As yet another collision with a parked ship by a brand new LCS. The commander was relieved of duty.
NOTE: I do think that both Russia and China but primarily Russia have been messing with American GPS which has led to the US Navy problems as well as losses to a friendly nation warship. That is my impression even though I have no access to classified anything. This has been my impression for a long time. Long before this PM article.

My Comment:
do not think this is a bad idea to retire the entire existing Cruiser class as well as the current Destroyer class. I know it is not what you wrote. But, think about it, their age, their cold war engineering. The recent change in class size definitions. Because, by today's definitions the American Destroyers are large Frigates and the American cruisers are Destroyers. So I think this is the beginning of a possible good transition. But, instead of scrapping the old war ships. How about selling them to Japan, South Korea, Austarlia, and New Zealand. All four of those nations are threatened or are under threat.
Then begin to build true multi-purpose and multi-domain warships. Which must include new and emerging threats from satellites, drones especially thousands of drones coming from a many different directions and angles of approach, as well as the many DEW flavors. The idea and tradition of men on the outside of ships should be engineered out of practice.
The next generation warships should have fully intelligent plug and play VLS Missile cells of at least three types. The Mark 41 and Mark 57. Then a new VLS Missile cell for larger and longer missiles for anti satellite warfare. In which a mix of other types of bulk missiles can be stored within. The new classes of warships should have at least 48 VLS for the Corvettes, 96 VLS for the Frigates, 192 VLS for the Destroyers and 384 for the Cruisers (New modern day Battleships will have more than 768 VLS). I use the coming Israeli Sa'ar 6 as a VLS base line and then a simple doubling for every class. Leaders make statements. Followers follow other peoples lead. It seems like every nation which surrounds Israel wants them dead. Because of this, Israel made a statement in their next generation Sa'ar 6 warship.

Added on 26 Dec 2019: Zumwalt Destroyers:
There are three Zumwalt Destroyers. The Guns were not engineered correctly and the ammunition is too expensive to use. So what do you do now? You remove the unused and inoperable guns and install more missile cells. The missile cells would be installed in a temporary fashion so that when rail-guns. LASER's and other DEW's reach maturity they can then be used. Besides a new modern day destroyer needs to have a total of 192 universal and intelligent VLS Missile Cells. Missile counts are now as important as gun counts in the days of sail. More so now as guns can be easily reloaded and missile cells cannot be reloaded quickly.

I see it as a cost savings measure to replace the old Destroyers and Cruisers. Now if the US Navy is gonna build so few new ships in the new definition of the Frigate class, Destroyer class and the Cruiser class. Then they must add as many new generation universal intelligent VLS Missile Cells as possible. The US Navy could retire the Mark 41 in favor of a new generation of Mark 57 and then create a new VLS Missile cell which will house larger and longer hit to kill with nuclear payload Anti Satellite Missiles. Which can also be tasked as long range land or ocean attack Ballistic Missiles. I like multi purpose everything.
These new generation of Frigates, Destroyers, Cruisers, Attack Subs, Missile Subs, drones of all kinds and Aircraft Carriers must be able to work as one singular war fighting entity. The ability for each class of ship and boat must be greatly enhanced by more than five time to what is being replaced or what is in use today in other nations. Each ship must be able to track, target and positively launch and forget missiles to every perceived enemy or threat. The new RADAR Spy 6 system must be able to do more than ten times what has been done before. If it can then the VLS missile counts must dramatically increase to greater numbers than what I've listed in other blogs.
It is spoken in many places that the F35 can use other planes missiles to execute a threat. So to must be an ability of American Naval Warships. Which means the retirement of the LCS ships can be dry docked and refitted with a boat load of VLS Missile cells and follow any ship which it has been commanded to follow which includes subs. How many missile cells can be put on an LCS? Especially, if you eliminate the flight deck. Think about it. If an LCS is to follow an Aircraft Carrier why would it need a flight deck? Especially on the Independence Class LCS? How many Mark 57's or Mark 41's can be added to the Independence Class LCS? How much more firepower is added to the Aircraft Carrier fleet? The safety and security of the LCS will have been mitigated so as long as it remains within the protection of the Aircraft Carrier Battle Groups. No longer will an LCS commander have to fear a simple little Russian missile boat a thousand miles away from its current location. So if you engineered the maximum amount of Mark 57 VLS Missile Cells on each of the 19 Independence Class LCS's. That is some Independence Mark 57 VLS missile cells number times 19 ships. How many more at the ready missile cells is now available. Something which must be thought about as the Russian's begin to put missile cells on ice Breakers and both China/Russia plans hidden Missiles inside of container's on container ships. If there is classified intelligence to verify the propaganda. Then you important people in the Pentagon and the US navy must add more VLS missile Cells.
But, I do not think this will happen as I think all aspect of military planning within the USA is full of traitors. I reference the boon doggles which were already paid for. Every aspect of US Navy warships do have the ability to do as Ironman had done in this one scene. The US Navy must have the ability on each class of warship to be able to defend themselves from incoming threats. While at the same time destroying hundreds of targets. Either with guns or missiles or a combination of multiple weapons platforms. Each targeting very specific and non duplicated targets and then destroying them at one time from a singular command. From severe threat to minimal threat. By building what I see as a next generation of nuclear powered Missile cruiser. The US Navy can build 22 of these new nuclear powered Cruisers with 544 total VLS missile Cells and be able to tow a COWA with 800 more VLS missile cells. That is a total of 1,344 VLS missile Cells times 22 and that equals 29,568 VLS missile cells. The big question would be how to manage a large number of missiles in flight? I think this might be China versus the USA. This was a very fast vision and very clear. Sort of like a decision upon a decision had been made and executed. Added on 27 Dec 2020: What Sa'ar 6 means to warship building. The Sa'ar 6 seems to be the leading warship of the decade (2020's). Israel has become a Naval leader in warship engineering. While the US Navy has not only taken a backseat but they have departed. In terms of defined capability, the Sa'ar 6 is the lead warship that the world must follow. The Sa'ar 6 has 68 missile launch mixed three different systems. The Sa'ar 6 also has 2 torpedo tubes and a helicopter pad. The US Navy knowing more than me has on purpose decided to build an inferior next generation Frigate. While at the same time practically defund the next generation of Cruiser's. This will be a loss of 2,684 missile cells. This is a significant loss in offensive and defensive capabilities. While China is now known as an enemy of the USA in actuality. The unwitting American civilians continue to buy products made in China as China continues to prepare for war with the USA and then their neighbors. Then onto the take over of the world.

But, there seems to be plans for the Cancelled Zumwalts. There seems to be plans for the weak, helpless and mostly defenseless LCS. But, the USA has become a socialist nation and a socialist nation cannot be better than anyone else. Because it is offense to those who will fear someone else. So the USA must become diminished. Added on 25 Dec 2021: It is official. There will not be a next generation American Cruiser as the Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer Flight III will become the replacement for the Cruiser Class of the USA. Thus, resulting in a loss of total missiles available. While Russia is engineering maximum missile capabilities in every class of modern warship. To such a degree that a simple small missile boat would outrange and outgun the Littoral class of the USA. Which is worse than embarrassing. So in short the USA will build a woefully inadequate Frigate class and discontinue the Tico Cruiser. While the Littoral class of warships are still very problematic and will most likely be retired in the years to come. The Zumwalt's have already had their stop build. It is evident that the US Government and the Pentagon have no military direction, purpose or function in this modern world. That is pretty harsh words, isn't it. How many failures can any military service endure before over all effectiveness become naught?

The news is out again. The US Navy Cruisers will begin retiring in 5 years. All of them gone in Five-ish years??? Will there be a stop order on all upgrades to the Cruisers? That is a huge loss of missile cells and many other offensive/defensive capabilities. With nothing to replace them with. It can take years to develop engineering plans and then years more to build one and figure out if it works or not. Like the boondoggle Fords, LCS, F35 and Zumwalt's. The next Boondoggles will be the next generation of Frigates and Destroyers. Each of which can be defeated by any modern warship one class down from each. At least on non classified paper. Maybe, the pentagon brass has the mind set of scaling up the helpless and defenseless LCS line into Frigates and Destroyers. Oh Yea and lets take a stealth ship like the Zumwalt's and put metal stuff on the outside of the stealth ships. Even this janitor knows that is a bad idea. Putting exposed metal on anything stealth related is just bad. As you can see with my writing, I do not have faith in the American Navy of building any quality ships. The house passes a bill to further pay for 5 LCS warships. Which cannot go to war. Which cannot survive rough seas. Which has no real weapons systems to benefit anything. Which is still problematic. Which is still cracking. The list is endless. Then there was no mention of the Cruisers which will still be retired in 5 years. How do you replace those lost missiles cells? But, a Constellation is paid for which is still lacking sufficient VLS missile cell capability. There are modern day corvettes which has more weapons than this new American Frigate.
All Cruisers must be modernized with life extending procedures. Then if they are still too costly to operate. Then park them in strategic locations like on Guam, Hawaii, Japan, Alaska, Florida, Texas and turn on all systems. This is the same for all existing air craft carriers. They all must remain in use. The US Navy does not have enough ships to contend with both China and Russia. Let alone the threats with Iran, Venezuela and Cuba. How are you going to split all of your forces in multiple theaters of operation. While leaving all of the USA defenseless? While knowing about your man power shortages.

must keep the Ticonderoga Cruisers. Until, you can replace the 122 VLS
Missile cell quantities as well as every other weapons system and sensor
packages. Maybe, the 6(2022) Ticonderoga's may be best situated with
permanent births in Guam and other strategically advantageous locations
with all of their systems activated. Just like how you people created
the entire LCS line with a severe absence of teeth, That can be taken
out by an RPG and that cannot even survive rough waters that some
civilian pleasure boats can. And etc. etc. etc. This is just awful on
every level. Then to follow up with make the new Constitution class
warship while ruining the formidable history of that ship by building a
Frigate which has less weapons than many modern day Corvettes. Who do
you plan on going to war with Iceland or Russia/China/Iran and 10 other
nations together. You're already out manned, out gunned and out
missiled. The only thing left for you Pentagon and political types is to
write your speeches for after your warships get sunk or worse yet,
CAPTURED. Yea, Cause that is one plan of the Chinese to use weaponized
container ships by the hundreds and ram your warships. But, you already
know that. How many missiles do you have to stop thousands of containers
and then contend with actual warships and then contend with incoming
missiles and then contend with incoming air craft and then contend with

The Vella Gulf has been decommissioned. 122 VLS missile cells gone from the US Navy capability. The Vella Gulf was never modernized. 3 More Ticonderoga's are set for early retirement because they were never modernized. Which means a total loss of 488 VLS missile cell capability lost. Yes, I know it is very simplistic to write only 488 and not include all of the other capabilities of this multi mission warship. The total losses are huge as all 22 Ticonderoga's will be decommissioned. I say again, All of the Ticonderoga's should be modernized and remain in service. The loss of total over all capability is huge and does put the entire US Navy at risk as well as each battle group which will see a loss of capability.
I know a lot of you important people who write about Navy matters read my stuff. You all should and need to write about this. No need to mention me or credit me in any way. This is serious. Emergency funds should be added and given to the US Navy for this entire line ASAP.
Another option is to sell the Ticonderoga's to our friends like GB, Japan, Israel, Australia, New Zealand. NO NOT TURKEY. Please read the above dated content for other options.

Added on 05 July 2024: Woe is the US Navy and all of the problems which have had to be endured. From failures to issues with docks and yards. The end of the Ticonderoga's is at hand and the US Navy cannot afford to let those ships disappear. At the very least allow our friends have them or sell them. We have done it in the past. Then sell them the missiles to go with them. I have mentioned that many times.
Here is the new news on the US Navy Cruisers. By 2027 all Ticonderoga's will be gone. That is about 3 years away. I have a plan which I have written years ago. You start with a unified hull which can be scaled up or down with the mindset of the doubling of VLS Missile cells. I think I simplistically do the math well with an eye on the history of warships. I think the next great naval nation will have scalable unified hulls. Which uses ideas from different places for warship development. One false theory is how the classes of warships are no longer important and maybe as individual classes which are independent one from another this maybe true. But, with a unified build all classes of ships must compliment one another. An oversimplified picture would be the concept of a Russian nesting doll. In which they are all one until you open them up and they become many and yet still one.
The USA is quickly approaching the point where a complete rethinking of their surface combatant warships must take place and if those very important and influential people do not think correctly. They will repeat the failures which has been seen with the LCS, Zumwalts, Ford, F35 and etc.
