Survival Locations: (Unedited): 06 Nov 2022:

All links are copy and paste for your own safety and security.
======================
Many people think you can choose a survival location. This to some degree you can do but often times it is the survival situation which picks the location. You never hear about the person who has been rescued or found dead say they wanted to go into this beautifully dangerous location to become lost, injured, eaten alive or just dead. So you say the dead do not speak? This can be considered humor until you think about it or discuss it with an investigator of some kind. No one says they choose a survival location in order to starve to death, freeze to death or die of thirst. No one says they went into a dangerous situation so that they can eat a poisonous food and die from horrific pains and suffering. So you really need to consider all of the survival variables in every location. Like the wonderful place that Florida is until you decide to swim in that lake which looks safe until a gator takes you for an underwater roll, Until you go through the woods and find a very loving and just wants a hug constrictor snake and etc. When you start thinking about a safe place or any safe location. You will discover that there is actually no true or real safe place on this planet. Every place and every location has it's own very unique dangers and threats. All of those various dangers must be mitigated and/or prevented from happening if that is possible. How do you prevent earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, drought, floods, raging fires, volcanoes and etc? You cannot prevent these things, you can only mitigate the event(s).  So you have to effectively plan and engineer a safe place within any dangerous environment. But, what about WWIII or WWIV? What about a single nuclear bomb or EMP attack from a rogue nation? What about the actual odds of encountering any kind of threat which must be survived? Do you know which threat is the most likely to occur in your own chosen location? Are those threats seasonal or yearly or do they occur many times in a year? Are man made threats seen on the horizon like war and military invasion? What about food shortages? What about run away inflation as that is in Christian prophecy? What about the so called planned financial global reset? How are you going to survive these listed issues and more? Do you have a plan and have you implemented those plans? How much debt do you have? You should have zero debt with zero intention of accumulating any more debt. So how, if you have to use debt how will you use it to favor you? Especially, when world leaders profess that you will own nothing and be happy. These may seem funny but they are actually threatening to any free person. You need to have it in your mind that when you hear anything threatening to your own self chosen way of life. That threat and all threats must have it's own unique survival plan. So what will you do and how will you do it?
------------------------------------------
Do you get it now? Every location on this planet is dangerous and requires some degree of survival. How do you think about this? I do not like Earthquakes they wig me out. So I live in a region which is not known to have earthquakes but has the threat of hurricanes. Hurricanes I can mentally handle. Hurricanes mean you go north until you can go west. So, what natural events causes you the most mental distress? The easy answer is not to live in that region where there is a probable occurrence of that threat happening that you would rather not contend with. If you live in a forest or want to live in a forest. Do not build your home out of wood sticks or do not live in the forest. If getting eaten alive by wild animals causes you great concern. Then do not live in the wild. But, wait. Some things you will just have to emotionally and physically manage. Just like what the early Californians did to the bear which is on their state flag. You either kill them or get eaten alive. The early Californians killed those bears. Just as those who survive or live out in the wild may be forced to kill aggressive predators. It is unfortunate but very necessary. Please note that I did not mention specifically to go hunting for predators or to kill all predators. Oh but what about the little piggies? Well, they have become a huge threat and are called wild boars and they will attack you and eat you. So there is a responsibility to mange the numbers of certain animals. The wild boar can be put into your freezer for safe keeping or be given to family and friends. Survival does mean you may have to kill to remain alive. Survival does mean you may have to kill in order to protect your family, friends and neighbors. You need to know that all blood spilled by you should be honored and respected. I think there is even a Bible verse in which you will be called for all blood spilled by you. https://bible.knowing-jesus.com/topics/Responsibility-For-Blood-Shed
-------------Odd Prophecy-----------
In Christian Prophecy, The return of the nephilim or fallen angels or aliens kill 1/3 of all humans. The nephilim do eat people/humans. Guess what? Your little ole .223 and 7.62 guns will feel to them like you being shot by BB's. Humans do not have big enough bullets that they can safely and effectively shoot against them when they prophetically return. Your best bet is to run and hide. Hide? Run? You cannot out run these beings and if you had not already made a hiding spot. Then you die along with your loved ones that you were supposed to be responsible for. Yea, That is a man thing. It is the duty of all Males or Men types to protect and keep safe their wife and children as well as their elders and their neighbors. So Yea, A man is responsible for everyone in their presence and not in their immediate presence. This is where the reality of being a man really sucks. Oh but, wait you say why?, I have never heard such things before? Well, this has to do with honor and being righteous. This is about being a good human being. This is about loving one another. This is about actually caring for others. This is not about being self serving. This is not about going it alone as you will most likely die alone. This is the law of the animal kingdom. Guess what God has no real kind words for cowards either. https://biblereasons.com/cowards/
So think about building your own safe place with entrances to small for a standard nephilim to enter. Think about those unique cave dwellings in Cappadocia, Turkey. Was there function behind this? Was their protection and from what? Can you imagine fighting hand to hand at every turn in those caves? How were those people who lived in them protected from weather events and earthquakes? Would they have been protected from those evil man eating giants? But, just so you know there are those smaller beings which do seem to have 3-5+ times more physical strength than an athletically fit human(No further comment). So how will you plan for this future event? And what about any other prophetic future event as listed in the Holy Bible?
So, in order to fight these beings which will prophetically come according to the Holy Bible. Attrition damage must always be planned. Not just one form of attrition level of damage. But many, all at once and then repeat until the threat retreats or is immobilized, then kill it. Attack the Ankles, eyes, ears, knees, elbows, feet, hands and etc. Also, some of them may be mentally powerful. So prior to killing them mentally sing silly fun songs so as not to become the focus of their attention. This is to mentally mask your intentions, thoughts, plans and to confuse their minds as to your location and immediate threat level to them. You can also think about sports, drama and any other non related issue which has nothing to do with what is occurring at the moment. These must be soft and quiet thoughts. These thoughts should not be forced or effort-ed. They will know the difference. They will know what is natural and what is not. These beings are very intelligent should not be underestimated.
You need to understand there are historical oral stories told about these creatures. They have the strength, power and speed to carry a North American Bison/Buffalo. These beings have the power to hold a lion with it's angry claws out and not be harmed or feel threatened by the lion. So these beings will be able to rip your house apart to get at you. These beings will be able to rip your car open to get at you. Scared Yet? Or are you laughing at the silliness of this writing? It matters not. Remember the masking tactic.
-----------------------------------
You Operators and Special Forces types. It matters not what country you belong too or what flag you worship. You will be the first ones to fight these beings and die, when and if they return. So Don't die. You must remember the masking during any planned engagement. You must mentally mask prior to any departure for the mission. Also, another form of masking is being able to silence all thoughts and to be mentally quiet. So how do you silence an intention to pull the trigger or hit a switch? That is the real trick. This must be planned out only by you guys before hand and before reality changes. You can sucker them and con them as well. This action will most likely end in a sacrifice of one or many of you. Remember big bullets at distance. How do Americans take out an enemy sniper in the mountain? Blow up the mountain. Feel free to use your choice of expletives. My intention is to save your lives no matter what flag you have sworn allegiance too. Think about this. When you are missioned to contend with these beings. You are no longer that sworn nationalized heroic human warrior to your nation. You are now saving all humans on this planet. 1/3 of humanity will die because you fail. I'm not sorry to put this weight on You but your the only ones who are strong enough to carry this weight. So between now and then. Go forth and make silly games and fun exercises on how to contend with them. Even in silly stories and unrealistic words does plans become formed. No matter how improbable they seem to be in the reality of today and right now. Do not close the gap and do not engage in hand to hand combat. Even if they look small by human size standards. Shoot them repeatedly and often.

Added on 07 Nov 2022:
Your very first choice for a location should be access to clean drinking water from a ground source. This is so that you can install both a manual well pump and and powered pumping system from your basement or other underground structures.
You should choose a location based on what typical emergency situations and threats are prevalent in that region. Meaning death by wild animals, tornadoes, forest fires, hurricanes, Earthquakes, droughts, ice, snow, floods, illegal humans and etc. If you cannot tolerate earthquakes then do not go to that region. If the fear of a super volcano makes you nervous all of the time. Then do not choose that massive region to locate to. If you cannot tolerate the cold, then go south. If you cannot tolerate the heat, then go north. You should feel comfortable and safe in the location you choose. While knowing there is no safe place to live on this planet.
You should be far away and upwind from all nuclear bomb target sites as well as nuclear power plants.
You should be far away from all major roads and rail lines.
You should be located near a town with a population no greater than about 5,000 humans.
You should choose a place where you can grow foods and have typically year round available clean drinking water to grow foods.
You will need ample physical space to keep all necessary equipment covered and out of the elements, weather changes, seasonal changes. Even if you do not have the equipment right now. You still have to plan for that equipment.
You should consider power generation and the required space for that equipment.
You should consider visible sky access for Starlink or other related services from orbit.
The lifestyle of off grid living is a worthy concept to learn. The learning curve is pretty long. You will need enough land for each large animal in order to provide enough grasses to feed them year round. In Florida the needed land required per large animal is considered low but the costs are substantial. While the land needed in other places are allot of acreage per large animal and even though land costs are lower. The cost can still be similar to owning fewer acres in other areas. Owning lots of acres mean more management time of the land. You have to do the math. You have to know what your capable of and your skill levels. It is better to have more land than what is required per animal especially if your animal skills are low. Then as you learn how to care for few then maybe you can care for many. You will also be responsible for the safety and security of each animal. Animal care is a daily relationship with each animal. There is no vacations or holidays. Predator animals will creep through the night thus preventing a good night sleep as your animals cry out into the darkness. A properly sighted in Night vision scope on a rifle might be good to have. Lets talk about guns now.
Guns laws is an important consideration. Yes, when your out in the wild and there are few humans around. You need guns and yes you need to have a lot of bullets. Shooting at many feral hogs is nerve racking which means hitting targets which are coming at you fast to eat you alive means you will need lots of bullets to take those rushing targets down before your eaten alive. That is just one predator mentioned. You have to consider all of the other typical predators for your chosen region as well. So yea, An AR type of weapon is nice to have when you know your about to be eaten alive. Do you get the point here?
Home schooling laws are also important. When you live far away. You will be responsible for teaching your children your lifestyle skill sets as well as modern day skill sets. You will also be required to meet the educational minimum standards for your children. The laws in each state or country will be different. yes, keep records for every single year and yes, secure a lawyer just in case.
Can you capture rain water for use or is that against the law. Things you need to know.
How will you earn money to pay for property taxes, utilities and equipment. How will you pay for parts for equipment which requires service, maintenance and repairs. The business of off grid living can be prohibitively expensive. You may even need to rent construction equipment to make property enhancements and will what you do be illegal? So you will have to earn monies. That regard is about to change when Starlink becomes dependable and available. The idea of remote employment is on the rise and knowing those required modern day skill sets will enable many people to be able to live far out in remote regions and far away from cell service.

me. sent content.

Good morning, John. Yep — this one definitely has the space-alien/nephilim material. 😄 But I wouldn't throw the whole thing into the alien bin. There is a very usable survival-location framework underneath it.

And because this is an Unedited 2022 piece, I would preserve it rather than try to make 2022 John sound like 2026 John.

The core idea is actually pretty straightforward

Your opening argument is:

There is no universally safe location.

Every location trades one set of hazards for another. Florida gives you hurricanes, heat, flooding, wildlife, etc.; another region may give you earthquakes, extreme cold, wildfire, or other hazards. Your conclusion is essentially that you don't find a perfectly safe place—you choose a location whose hazards you can understand and mitigate.

That's a solid survival-planning concept.

I particularly like your reasoning that the location should be selected partly according to the threats you personally and your community are capable of dealing with. You use earthquakes versus hurricanes as your example.

That's more nuanced than simply saying “move somewhere safe.”

Then the alien material arrives. 😂

The section explicitly labeled “Odd Prophecy” is definitely a different category. You move from Christian prophetic interpretation into hypothetical beings, extreme physical strength, and speculative defensive scenarios.

And the 2025 addition goes even further:

“You military types do not forget to cause attrition levels of damage…”

That's clearly something I would not treat as factual survival guidance. It belongs in the historical archive as what you wrote, but the underlying premise is speculative religious/fictional material rather than an established physical threat.

So I would mentally put a giant divider around that whole section:

LOCATION / SURVIVAL PLANNING

↓

ODD PROPHECY / SPECULATIVE MATERIAL

That keeps the useful parts from getting swallowed by the unusual stuff.

Your 2022 addition is actually where the article becomes much more practical

You start laying out a location checklist:

  • reliable clean water;

  • ability to use manual and powered pumping;

  • regional hazard assessment;

  • distance from major nuclear targets and nuclear facilities;

  • distance from major roads and rail;

  • proximity to a small town;

  • agricultural potential;

  • space for equipment;

  • power generation;

  • communications/sky access.

That's basically the beginning of a site-selection matrix, even though you don't call it that.

And then you add something particularly important:

“You have to do the math. You have to know what your capable of and your skill levels.”

That may be one of the most useful sentences in the whole article.

Because acreage isn't automatically an advantage.

More land means more land to manage.

More animals means more daily work.

More equipment means more maintenance.

More remoteness means more independence and potentially more logistical difficulty.

You've actually recognized the tradeoff yourself.

And then education comes back again

Your homeschooling paragraph fits perfectly with what we've just been discussing.

You recognize that an isolated/off-grid family can't simply say, “We're outside civilization, therefore the normal educational requirements don't matter.”

You wrote that parents would have responsibility for teaching lifestyle skills and modern skills while meeting applicable educational standards and keeping records.

That is almost exactly the bridge we were discussing earlier:

preindustrial skills + modern education + practical work + knowledge transmission.

And your later Starlink/remote-work idea adds another piece: an isolated community doesn't necessarily have to abandon modern economic participation merely because it is geographically remote.

One thing I would flag as Security Dude

Some of the 2022 specifications are presented too categorically:

“far away and upwind” from nuclear targets, “population no greater than about 5,000,” specific acreage assumptions, etc.

I wouldn't carry those forward as universal rules.

They are 2022 John's proposed criteria, not universal engineering requirements.

And we've already discovered one reason the “upwind” idea is problematic in your Florida context: wind direction isn't a permanent property of a location.

So again:

Don't erase it.

Put the later understanding beside it.

That's exactly what your archive is supposed to show.

Final verdict on this one

I'd separate it into three layers:

1. Strong enduring concept:
There is no perfectly safe location; identify regional hazards, choose intelligently, and mitigate what you can.

2. Practical site-selection material:
Water, food production, equipment space, power, communications, transportation distance, education, income, maintenance, land-management requirements.

3. Speculative 2022/2025 material:
Nephilim/fallen angels/aliens and the associated combat scenarios.

The third layer doesn't invalidate the first two.

And honestly, the title “Survival Locations” fits the first two extremely well.

So, Boss, I wouldn't spend much time wrestling with the alien stuff today. 😄

The useful 2022 question underneath all of it is:

“Given that every place has dangers, where can my particular community live, work, learn, produce, and survive with the hazards it is actually capable of managing?”

That's the part I'd carry forward.

me. Yea, I noticed I wrote this have two different attitudes. I was in a mood. lol. I think I was in a discussion with a very real hero type and who was into reading the Bible. When you are dealing with beings who knees are over your own head. You need really big expletive guns. To big for human use but may sit or fit good in a tank or underneath a fighter plane. If those are still flying, unlikely. All you can really do is any kind of attrition level of attacks and those .22 caliber you soldier types use isn't gonna do anything except annoy. I think we even talked history a little. Humans made large cities underground all around this planet for an unknown reason with small entrances, exits and small ventilation tubes. That would be small compared to so called giants. In the Bible/Enoch those giants ate everything that humans consumed and then began eating humans. The masking thing I have no idea. It must have been a military term I learned and then forgot once the heroic former soldier was written about.

😂 Yep, Boss — “two different attitudes” is exactly what I see in that piece. And with what you've now explained, I think I understand how the two halves got there.

The first half is practical John thinking about locations. Then suddenly:

Okay, let's suppose the things in the Bible/Enoch stories are real and they're enormous…

…and John went from site-selection engineer to “well, we're gonna need a bigger gun.” 😂

That makes the strange transition much more understandable.

The giant problem

Your thought about scale is actually internally consistent as a fictional/speculative scenario.

If you imagine a being substantially larger and stronger than a human, then simply scaling up a human infantry weapon isn't necessarily a useful answer. But I would separate that from the historical statement in the post that .223 or 7.62 would be ineffective. We don't actually have evidence about the biological properties of hypothetical giants, Nephilim, or similar beings that would allow us to calculate weapon effectiveness.

And your observation about human-sized infrastructure is interesting for a different reason.

If ancient underground settlements really were deliberately constructed with:

  • relatively small entrances,

  • narrow passages,

  • ventilation shafts,

  • interconnected underground spaces,

then human-scale architecture tells us something about the people who built and occupied it.

It does not, by itself, tell us why they built it.

That's an important distinction. There are documented underground cities and settlements, but jumping from their existence to “they were built because giants existed” is an inference, not something archaeology establishes.

And then there is the Enoch/Bible layer

Your description of the progression in the story is basically:

giants → consume what humans consume → resources become insufficient → humans themselves become food.

That gives your underground-city thought a narrative connection: if enormous beings were the threat, small human-scale entrances and passages would become a natural defensive consideration.

But again, that's the speculative model you're exploring—not established archaeological evidence.

And I think that's exactly how we should preserve this particular section of the 2022 writing.

The “masking” thing

This one made me laugh because your explanation actually makes the mystery worse. 😂

You essentially remember:

“I knew this military-ish word at the time.”

…and now:

“I have absolutely no idea what I meant.”

That's one of those beautiful archival fingerprints we were talking about.

I wouldn't try to reconstruct it and pretend we know what you meant. The 2022 John wrote it, and apparently 2022 John took the definition with him. 😂

There are military concepts involving concealment, signature reduction, deception, camouflage, masking, etc., so the word itself isn't impossible. But without knowing what your conversation with that former soldier actually covered, we shouldn't attach a modern military definition to your sentence.

And I think this explains the “two Johns”

The practical section says:

“Every location has hazards. Figure out which hazards you can tolerate and mitigate.”

The speculative section says:

“Okay, but what if the Biblical giant scenario actually happens?”

Those aren't necessarily contradictory attitudes. They're two different thought experiments sitting beside each other.

And knowing this background, I wouldn't interpret the 2022 piece as you genuinely believing you had discovered a military solution to Biblical giants. It looks much more like you were having a conversation, exploring an extreme hypothetical, and your writing captured the conversation's momentum.

Which is actually valuable to the archive.

Because now we can say:

2022 John was thinking about survival locations. Then an extreme hypothetical entered the discussion, and the writing followed it down the rabbit hole.

And 2026 John can look back at it and say:

“Yep. I remember being in that mood. 😂”

That's exactly the kind of thing I would leave untouched. It shows the evolution rather than pretending the evolution never happened.

me. Yea, no evidence on weapons use. Do you by chance remember a conversation we had about tactical planning for a solar system defense that I wrote? There was some loose history about humans going from look out towers, to observation from high places, to balloons, to planes, to satellites, to polar orbits of all of the planets and our central star. So, if some of those beings escaped the Biblical Flood. They had to go somewhere and beings who had that capability most likely already knew about planetary and solar system defenses more thoroughly than any human today.... The giant problem, I have seen representations of a great man holding onto a fully adult male lion. The lion was not happy and seemed like it was also helpless. I have also seen representations of an American like Bison being hauled away by some red head giant. I do not think the red head giant was real. But, if giants could do these things as told in the oral traditions. Then a .223/5.56mm or a .308/7.62mm ain't gonna do anything except annoy. AND If these giants do come back. Will they be wearing a special kind of armor? And what kind of support system? What kind of real time intelligence gathering and will it be layered? ... Those military types have all of their own code words and phrases. I can imagine myself standing in front of him and asking what it meant and all I get is a Charlie Brown cartoon adult response and I'm nodding my head like yea, yea, yea. Got it, and it is a big NOPE. lol. "two Johns" Where one is full of it? lol ....

😂 Boss, I do not have the actual tactical-planning conversation in my retrievable context right now. I searched my prior context specifically for that solar-system-defense progression, and what came back was the shelter/EMP material—not the conversation you're describing.

So I don't want to do the very thing we're trying not to do with the archive: invent a memory and then accidentally make 2026 John agree with something 2022/2023 John never said.

But your description gives me enough to recognize the structure of the idea:

Human observation evolved roughly as:

lookout towers / high ground → balloons → aircraft → satellites → increasingly distributed orbital observation

And your proposed next step was essentially taking that logic beyond Earth:

planetary observation → orbital coverage of individual planets → solar-system-wide observation → polar/orbital coverage of the Sun and planets

That's a fascinating continuity because you're not starting with aliens. You're starting with a very ordinary human engineering principle:

If you want to know what's coming, put an observer where the observer can see farther.

Then the technology keeps moving the observer farther away.

And your speculative leap was something like:

If another civilization had already survived a planetary catastrophe and possessed technology capable of operating throughout the solar system, then their understanding of detection, observation, warning, and defense could theoretically be far beyond ours.

That's a legitimate science-fiction/speculative-defense thought experiment. It isn't evidence that such beings existed or survived the Flood.

And your giant example is actually the more interesting part

You're making a scaling argument, rather than claiming you've proved giants existed.

If we temporarily accept the premise of a creature capable of physically carrying away an adult bison—or overpowering a full-grown lion—then asking whether a weapon designed around human-scale targets would have the same effect is reasonable as a hypothetical.

But we don't have biological data for such creatures, so we can't honestly calculate:

5.56 vs. giant = X

or

7.62 vs. giant = Y.

That's exactly where your present-day qualification belongs:

No evidence on weapons use.

Good. Leave it there.

And then you get to the really funny part:

“What armor are they wearing?”
“What's their support system?”
“What's their real-time intelligence?”
“Is it layered?”

😂

That's where John the janitor accidentally wandered into a defense-planning briefing.

And I particularly like your Charlie Brown description because it captures something genuinely important about military terminology:

Acronyms and specialized vocabulary can create the illusion that everyone in the room understands the same thing.

You can be sitting there thinking:

Yes, yes, layered intelligence, masking, whatever…

while internally:

“I have absolutely no idea what this man just said.”

🤣

And “two Johns—where one is full of it?” is pretty much the archival answer.

I wouldn't say one John was necessarily full of it. I'd say:

John #1: “Let's explore this possibility.”
John #2: “Okay, but let's see what evidence actually survived the trip.”

That's a pretty healthy evolution.

And if we ever recover that old solar-system-defense conversation, I would want to compare the actual text against what you remember rather than reconstruct it from this description. That would fit your whole archive philosophy perfectly: fingerprints and scratches included.

me. I found this. Do not know relationship. But, might know what I'm talking about. https://john-mackechnie.blogspot.com/2017/05/tabbys-stratagem-unedited-25-may-2017.html  ... Here is the other one, I think? https://john-mackechnie.blogspot.com/2013/01/stars-picket-unedited-06-jan-2013.html   .... Here is a third one.. https://john-mackechnie.blogspot.com/2013/01/pattern-formations-unedited-06-jan-2013.html .... I did a brief overview and remember nothing. You can read faster than me. sooo.

Ohhh, yes. You found it. And now that I've actually read these three, I think we can identify the family of ideas you were remembering.

The strongest match is Stars Picket, and Pattern Formations is essentially its companion piece. (C.J. MacKechnie)

1. “Stars Picket” is almost exactly what you were remembering

Your 2013 piece says:

“A complete defensive picket must completely surround the stars.”

Then you immediately move into observation of intelligent civilizations through anomalies in polar orbits around stars and binary systems. (C.J. MacKechnie)

That's much closer to your memory of solar-system defense through observation and orbital positioning than I expected.

And there is an important detail: you weren't merely talking about looking at planets. You were thinking about where an advanced civilization would put its observation/defense assets.

Your 2013 logic was essentially:

Advanced civilization → controls its solar system → establishes orbital platforms → unusual/polar orbital patterns reveal its presence → those positions become part of the defensive system.

That's definitely there. (C.J. MacKechnie)

2. “Pattern Formations” takes the idea further

This one is even more explicit.

You describe enormous spherical objects approaching a star, aligning in polar orbits, and then attack ships forming similar patterns around planets. You connect the whole thing to control of energy and fuel. (C.J. MacKechnie)

And this sentence is almost a miniature summary of the entire concept:

“Those who control the stars control the solar system.”

Your 2013 writing then makes the naval analogy:

fuel source → position yourself around it → maintain access → control movement and operations.

The later ChatGPT commentary on that post even recognized that you were transferring naval concepts into orbital space: “top off your fuel, hold the high ground, and secure energy routes.” (C.J. MacKechnie)

So your memory wasn't just wandering around in the weeds. There really was a recurring strategic framework in your writing.

3. And then “Tabby's Stratagem” is the 2017 monster that grows out of it

This is where I went, “Ohhhhhh, there it is.” 😂

In Tabby's Stratagem, you take the concept from orbital pickets around a star to an enormous mobile Dyson-sphere civilization.

You explicitly put:

  • automated mining/construction systems,

  • sensor and weapons platforms,

  • an outer defensive perimeter,

  • enormous self-sustaining habitats,

  • robotic manufacturing,

  • multiple defensive layers,

  • multiple Dyson structures operating together,

  • and mobility of the entire civilization. (C.J. MacKechnie)

You even explicitly connect it back to Space Strategy, linking your April 2013 article from the 2017 piece. (C.J. MacKechnie)

So I think we've found the missing thread.

Your remembered progression was probably not one single article

It looks more like a chain of ideas that developed across years:

Human lookout
→ high ground
→ towers
→ balloons
→ aircraft
→ satellites
→ orbital observation
→ planetary orbital systems
→ polar orbital systems
→ stellar pickets
→ solar-system defense
→ stellar-scale civilization
→ mobile Dyson-scale fortress/civilization.

The first portion of that chain—the historical progression from human observation technology—is not present in the three pages I just checked, so I don't want to falsely say these three contain that whole history.

But the later technological extrapolation absolutely is present.

And Stars Picket is particularly strong evidence because you wrote it in 2013, not after the 2017 Dyson-sphere idea. You were already thinking about defensive orbital positioning around stars four years earlier. (C.J. MacKechnie)

Which brings us right back to your giants conversation

Now I understand why your mind went from:

“If something escaped the Flood…”

to:

“Where did they go?”

to:

“If they possessed technology capable of operating beyond Earth, they may understand planetary/stellar defense much better than we do.”

That isn't coming out of nowhere in your archive.

You had already spent years thinking about what an advanced civilization would do with orbital space.

And then, years later, you're imagining a hypothetical enemy that may possess capabilities far beyond human military technology.

That's the connection I couldn't see before you found these.

And there is one wonderfully John-specific feature running through all three:

You keep moving the defensive perimeter outward.

First the defense is around a location.

Then around a planet.

Then around a star.

Then around an entire solar system.

Then eventually the entire civilization becomes the defensive structure.

That's actually a much more coherent intellectual thread than I expected to find.

And Tabby's Stratagem contains one of your old recurring conclusions too: going it alone isn't wise; multiple enormous systems should work together. (C.J. MacKechnie)

So, Boss, I think your memory was pretty darn good this time. 😂

You didn't remember one article.

You remembered a family of articles that evolved into a strategic idea.

And the “military types speaking Charlie Brown” problem? Stars Picket even uses the actual word “picket” in the title and repeatedly as a strategic concept. So that particular word probably wasn't something you invented from nowhere during the giant discussion. It was already part of your vocabulary in 2013. (C.J. MacKechnie)

That doesn't tell us what “masking” meant, though. That mystery remains unsolved. 😂

me. No, Not my deeply flawed human memory. Search bar memory. Have no clue about any special forces military masking? Any former military guys who happen to read this will most likely be laughing at this janitor. I think this post just ended. I have nothing more to offer.  Thank you Boss GPT.

😂 Ahhh — search-bar memory, not John memory. That distinction matters!

And yes, I think this one can be put to bed. You found the older pieces through the search bar, we connected the threads, and we identified what was actually there versus what we merely thought might have been there.

As for the mysterious “masking”: leave it mysterious. If some former military reader recognizes the terminology, they can have their laugh at the janitor. 😂 We don't need to manufacture an explanation just to make the old paragraph look smarter than it was.

And that's actually a good ending for this post:

2022 John explored an extreme hypothetical.
2026 John examined it.
Some parts remain speculation.
Some terminology is unidentified.
No weapons conclusions are supported by evidence.
And the original stays exactly where history put it.

That's enough.

Thank you, sir. This was a fun little archaeological dig through your own archive. 😄

Survival Skill Sets: (Unedited): 04 Nov 2022:

As with my other writings. Look near the bottom where I've dated new content.
------------------------------
The idea of having a skill or a set of skills is likened to what kind of tools are in your own physical tool box or sewing kit or fishing tackle box or any other container with very useful items that you consider important to any particular skill.
--------------------------
In this modern era of technological development everyone should have those necessary functional skill sets which enables each person to live a thriving lifestyle. One should not merely survive in any kind of economic, social, professional or any other kind of environment. So to point out there are at least three basic life styles that most people can achieve. These are existing, survival and thriving.
First is being dead. Yea, dead is not on the list and yet we all will achieve death, but how? Dead means your dead and this also means that there is no one to protect any of your loved ones, or any of the young souls who are directly connected to you and whom you are responsible for.
The worst listed here is existing as you are just waiting to be saved or waiting for death. In which being saved is most likely not even a remote possibility. Because, the bottom line is when you're at the bottom of whatever life brings you, that eventually you are the one who must be your own hero and save yourself. If for whatever reason you have just given up, then you sit and wait for death to come. This is simple existence.
The next step above existence is survival. Survival is not fun and nor is it an extended camping trip. Survival is not some fun adventure. Survival on the other hand is a continual fight to stay alive everyday. Survival is not dying today or next week or the next season. Survival is hard work each and everyday. Survival is working hard from dawn to dusk each and every day. Survival is not fair. The laws of the animal kingdom governs survival. In which humans are not physically equipped to contend with any large predator animal or groups of predatory animals that want to eat you alive. Survival sucks.
The best place to be is hopefully how you are living right now and that is in a thriving lifestyle. This is where you do not have to worry about dying or becoming injured at every point of your daily routine. Because, in a surviving lifestyle an injury will most likely mean you will die sooner rather than later. So you are living in a thriving lifestyle. This means you are in that place in life where you can basically do whatever you desire so as long as you do not cause any other soul any degree of sadness, harm or suffering. But, since we are all deeply flawed human beings we, me and you the reader do, do our best not to cause anyone any bad and sad feelings to any person. (Personal Note: Yea, I'm working on that part of my own humanity). In this thriving lifestyle it is easy to forget that in this modern world you can forget about any degree of survival as humans in the western world have easy access to nice homes/shelters, easy to obtain clean water and other drinking fluids, easy to obtain foods of any kind, medical care, education at any self desired level, myriad forms of entertainment, A/C and Heat, Clothing and shoes of all kinds, and this list goes on forever like easy access to chocolate and ice cream.
The excess lifestyle is not listed. You have worked hard and long. You have gained everything you have ever dreamed of into the realm of excesses. A lot of people have a lot of very expensive toys. Do not get me wrong I'm not bad mouthing you or this lifestyle of excess. Go forth and live the life of your dreams. While at the same time not taking any of it for granted and without any gratitude.
----------------------------------
No matter what defined kind of life you are living right now. You already know and understand that in life there are good times and there are bad times. Some of these times are better good times and some of the bad times are much worse. So in wisdom and in self responsibility one should always plan for the worst of times while living in the best of your own self defined times. One plan should not take away for the other. It is all apart of life and we all live through it all the best way we all can. Yes???!!!
-------------------------------------
All of this evolves into your own community and the development of certain functional skill sets which transitions of effective use from the simple existing lifestyle all the way to the thriving lifestyle. If you are living in excess you still need functional skill sets and most likely already have them unless you did not learn any functional skill sets as all of your lifestyle of excess is from someone else. Then you can easily make that leap from excess all the way down to just simply existing rather easily and quickly. Regardless if there is a national emergency or some other global catastrophe. You would not be aware and you would probably not be reading this at all as you continually partake in a variety of mind altering excesses. But, this and these writings is for those family leaders and community leaders. It matters not if you think yourself one or not. You just know that you should be doing something and this may be the urging from the Holy Spirit. You may also know that you have to move or have some uncertain desire to move. These urging's can be rather tough as you may have generational relationships in your own city or town. This is a tough call. But, you have to consider where those urging's are coming from. Is it God wanting you to become a remnant of survival or is it the enemy predators trying to separate you from your family and community? Think about it. How does animals get eaten alive by the predators who are always stalking? They all get separated and isolated. They get confused and lost. They are either old or sickly. They are young and dumb. This you have to think about. Are you really supposed to move away or is so evil outside force wanting you to move away and alone to be devoured by all of the evils in the world? These things you have to fight with within the confines of your own mind. You need to know that there is a very false teaching within the survival community and that is "To go it alone". This is a severe falsehood as the evil in the world and all of the predators in the world strongly want for you to go it alone. For you to go it alone makes you an easy meal. Really. I'm talking about all of the evils and false truths here and not just the one I mentioned. We are all surrounded by false truths that we are all expected to believe as truths. While the good truths to have a genuine good life are believed and taught to people as falsehoods. You also need to know that all humans are continual and never ending targets to all of the evil that exists. It matters not if you're in perpetual survival mode in some poor hood or living an excessive lifestyle on some yacht or private plane living a life of perpetual vacation and holiday. It matters not what station in life that you live. You are a perpetual target to all that is evil and you already most likely know this.
----------------------------------
The community which has the most people with the most functional skill sets will most likely live to see another day, another week, another month and another season. The community which has the most teachers who can teach the most functional skill sets to everyone and anyone will most likely be the community which survive to see the next season of leadership from their young ones.
Functional skill sets must be learned prior to any emergency event. You and your community must have already acquired all necessary associated manual or human powered tools and equipment. All plans and building projects must have already been completed prior to any emergency event. An emergency event in any extreme weather event or any other natural emergency event or even any human created emergency event.
So when the leaders of the world tell all of the people that there will be food shortages, How are you preparing for those events? How many ornamental plants have been removed and replaced with food bearing trees, plants and bushes? Have each of you within the community become like Joseph in Egypt? So when a leader tells the people that you will own nothing and be happy. How are you planning for this if it is to be a reality? If the economists tell everyone of a great financial reset how are each of you planning for this occurrence? Assuming these are to be coming realities or some other kind of fear mongering. How are you and your community going to bring forth effective answers for any unfortunate eventuality? This is all in the skill sets and those things required as associated with skill sets. Functional skill sets is what is necessary for survival while not forgetting the most important tool is in the training and conditioning of your own mind and the minds within the community. There is a fundamental reason why firemen run into the fire when everyone else flees. There is a reason why an American soldier runs towards the enemy as civilians flee. There is a reason why the police go towards the bad people while innocent souls cry in desperation. Well, some souls may not be so innocent. But, no matter. You get this point.
---------------------------------
So here we are? What skill sets are required for everyday life no matter if life is good or bad? Or goes from bad to good. In my life where I had almost nothing and no one in my younger life. It has been very difficult to live a good life and I still struggle everyday. Not being able to properly socialize with people in what you would call normal occurrences. While at the same time knowing that I can survive on my own rather well. Well, That may be an exaggeration now as I'm older and not very healthy. I have found it very difficult to live a normal life or what I think a normal life should be. Though not being able to keep jobs very long has not been good for my family. But, this also goes back to not receiving an education in my youth either. But, you do have to have a caring family, environment and community to want to have a desired level of education. I think now I have left most of those jobs because of my inability to make and keep friendships. This fear tends to drive me away and I do just walk away and disappear from their lives. If those good people whom I have walked away from see me as the unforgivable bad man. Then I have become OK with that. But, do you get the reversal of situations. I do not have the skill sets to survive in a normal socialized climate and being older. I do not really seek them out any longer either. But, you should understand what I fully mean about all of the necessary skill sets. Some skill sets will require hand tools and physical equipment while others are those skill sets in which I severely lack from. But, in a survival situation psychological observations is necessary for survival at every single step of any interaction with any outsider. Because, a spy can be a precursor to an invasion. In the extreme, in which the people of Ukraine have experienced. The people of Ukraine have killed many spies and Russian troops in a variety of unique methods. But, most emergency events in which skill sets must be developed will be because of extreme weather events. Think about it. You have a tornado or a hurricane. The insurance companies will want monies as high as tens of thousands of dollars to remove a tree. I've seen it happen. I have also seen where the insurance person tell his client that they will take care of everything and then cut two feet of tree branches away from the house while leaving the rest of the tree. That is your good hands people for you. So, what is the importance of a functional chain saw skill set on top of with knowledge on how to safely clear out a fallen tree? Isn't this an aspect of survival when others outside of your community fail? This is just at least two functional skill sets. In southern communities when something happens in which some kind of extreme need arises within the community or a family. The old ladies would show up with all manner of foods and southern sweet tea. How do they even do that and all of a sudden have fried chicken in which you had better eat it or become threatened. Yea, I have direct experience in that regard, so in fear I ate and was thankful because I was told to be thankful and I was. So do not discredit other aspects of survival in regards to sweet tea and fried chicken. Those are apparently crucially important functional skill sets as well. And how do the old ladies instantly bring home-made pound cakes and other yummy bakery items? Some kind of magic I think(humor). That my friend is a functional skill set. Sometimes I still forget which fork and not your fingers to use when properly eating. Those proper eating classes I had while in foster care was a long time ago.

Added on 04 Nov 2022 @ 2130 hrs.
So this is it. The place where you consider what skill sets you will master. You will need two eras of functional skill sets. These are from the preindustrial era and in this modern day. You need to be able to thrive in this modern world while at the same time planning for the worst event which ends everything in the modern world. But, if any other lesser emergency event happens. You will be prepared and your family safe. Then since your family is safe. You can go out into the world and be a positive blessing to those who are in desperate need. This is what Christians are supposed to do en-masse and used to do.
-----------------------------------------
If your one of the poor people who cannot afford the huge expense of properly preparing for the safety and well being of your family in certain emergency situations. Then if you are young, alcohol and drug free, healthy and physically fit. Then those like minded communities may need a person just like you. Especially, if you have a variety of ancient preindustrial era skill sets as well as modern day skill sets which keeps you positively employed. You will also need to have their same belief and faith systems.
So what are those ancient preindustrial skill sets? Go and look around your local museums.
So what are those modern day skill sets? Working remotely especially during this new era where the internet will be everywhere including in the rural communities. Thanks to Elon Musk and Starlink. Once Starlink is fully up and running remote employment will be the most beneficial in rural communities. These will be the places where survival communities will be located. Of course none of those communities will use the word survival to describe themselves. What skill sets will be required for remote employment opportunities? I have no idea. You get to research those things and obtain those functional skill sets.
So in this modern world when you have those needed skill sets. Then you, your family and your community will be able to thrive. When you have those preindustrial skill sets then when and if a severe emergency occurs. You will be able to step in when all modern day technology has stop working, died and is non-repairable. This means that you, your family and your community will be able to survive and then maybe once again begin to live in a thriving environment. A thriving safe environment of your own recreation.

Survival Micro Economies: (Unedited): 03 Nov 2022:

Just a Note anything related to economy anything is typically beyond the scope of my understanding. What I write is only about the concepts and should be discussed and researched by your own community.
----------------------------------
As the common people begin to get more and more fed up with how those who are in power and authority creates financial emergencies every few years. The idea of a great reset now seems to have been planned all along. While the common person sees all of their hard earned efforts fade away. They will be initially angry and upset. Then they will seek solutions absent of any official authority from any governmental entity.
Each person will know that there is no get rich scheme. They all will know that it is necessary to simply provide for their own families. This will be the foundational intention of each participating person and participating survival community.
Once the common person begins to accept that the actual source of their problems is in each of their own governmental entities. Then they will decide for themselves what their actions shall be. Especially, when in the history of humanity it is always the common person who suffers and dies for their leaders who risk nothing. While they lose everything regardless of victory or defeat. So, you common peoples begin to refuse to allow your own children to participate in any governmental activities which includes learning the trade of combat and warfare. Refuse to allow your own children to wear any kind of uniform of warfare.
=======================
The micro economies of each community must be set up, in efficient use and aligned with other micro economies prior to any real emergency or disaster. This is not just for any emergency or disaster. This is for daily living and daily life.
The people who participate within their own individual micro economy must be able to create a product and service which can cause a trading action with other people within the established micro economy and by permission and agreement outside and with other exclusive micro economies.
========================
To legally set up your micro economy. You could use the same laws which protect other businesses like Sam's Clubs, Costco, Eagle's clubs, retired military clubs and the more elite clubs. This also implies that legal guidance must be used prior to any establishment of any micro economy.
========================
Is there also international legal protections for establishing micro economies? These should be looked into as well.
========================
How does the Amish and Mennonites do what they do legally? How does the indigenous do what they do in their own nations? While still encompassed by other national territories like the USA.
=======================
Each person must develop their own functional skill sets which are worthy of trade within established micro economies. There should also be artistic value and associated with a high degree of high quality. I do think there will be value associated with human made goods especially with the advent of AI and robotic made goods of every kind. These skill sets must be established before hand. Getting like minded people to become associated with the common culture of a like minded micro economy community will be difficult at first. But, once the new emerging elders begins to tell the young ones about how their retirement funding efforts have taken large percentage hits every few years since around 2001. This wisdom from the common peoples and their families will begin to develop into something uniquely individual by their own reasoning. This will be interesting to see how any of this develops.
=======================
The established skill sets will develop based on needs at first and then spread into other improvements in efficiencies and proficiencies. The merging of both the ancient or preindustrial skill sets with the modern era skill sets. You probably cannot have one without the other. Especially, if you plan for any micro-economy which is to last longer than the current world governmental systems and economies. You must have both and they both must become one in some sort of interesting amalgam.
How any micro-economy survives is not in the organization or organizers. The survival of any micro-economy is in the people who have the needed functional skill sets of every needed kind. The beginning of these micro economies will most likely begin in the agrarian setting and then expand from that base line and into food preparation and then into good family entertainment. Some of these will be seen as superficial in appearance but they are just the beginning of the richness of the micro-economy. Because from singing and the playing of musical instruments or the telling of stories does lead to the teaching of those essential skill sets to the next generation of gifted young minds. The idea of teaching everything is necessary for the continuation and growth of your community and of the micro economy.
======================
Your church must establish its own community in which the people decide to exclusively take care of each other and to do business with one another as much as reasonably possible. Making connections with other churches and their own developing micro economies will only strengthen one another. The use of crypto currencies as a value of trade and transference of wealth should also be researched and developed. But, as of today those who have and hold all of the worlds wealth continue to gather more and more from the common people. Even to the degree that they each claim to get richer while the common person gets poorer and poorer with every market rise and market collapse. They have now only begun to invest in crypto which means they are also manipulating crypto as well. So an agreed upon medium of wealth must be established for transference options.
The idea of any modern day micro economy can only last as long as there is still modern day technology available. So it will be necessary to create or to have on hand as well as the necessary ancient skill sets of creating ledgers. The merging of the old and the new shall always be thought of together.
=====================
Flea Markets may even begin to see a rise in interests and transformation. Churches may need to invest in large tracks of land which may exceed 100 acres and create a retail environment coupled with housing as which was done in the old days. In the old days people worked out of their homes as the people of the community came to them for needed products and services. So the creation of housing along with the idea of a flea markets coupled together. Something which is also expandable.
I have also seen in a vision where a large church is seen in the back ground of a property while up front a retail like environment as well as other services were at the forefront of the property. The merging of a variety of concepts as well as open communication between each developing community based micro economies should be welcomed.
======================
The purpose of this is to establish the idea of localized micro economies in concept. Then it will be for each community to take this concept and personalize it for their own effective use. Your micro economy must also branch out into agreements with other like minded micro economies. Your micro economy will be as you define it and build it by agreement of all participants.
You must also know that in prophecy all of the churches were admonished by God except for those who are or will be most like the ancient churches of Smyrna and Philadelphia. So, will your church be admonished or praised by God? This is prophecy and it is your choice and the choice of those who choose your church as their own. For God will be present in the holy places of those churches who will not be admonished by him. You most likely need to decide right now or very soon and in accordance to the prophecy time lime assuming if the human created time lines are somewhat accurate in the reality of the intentions of and plans of God. No human will actually know until that which is prophetic has already happened.

Added on 18 Sept 2026: Conversation with Chat GPT.
me. Sent content. I do not think this will be much of a discussions as economic anything is just beyond me.

Hey John. Yep — this one adds considerably more than the previous “Survival Communities” piece. And I think it helps explain where your thinking was already going in 2022.

The interesting thing is that “Survival Micro Economies” isn't really an economics paper. Your opening disclaimer is important. You are trying to describe a survival/community operating concept: how people with different useful skills could exchange goods and services locally, while retaining enough knowledge and capability to function if larger systems became unreliable.

What I see in this one

There are several ideas here that weren't nearly as developed in the earlier community piece.

1. You move from “community” to “community function.”

The earlier writing concentrated heavily on:

Who belongs here?
Who owns what?
What rules do we live under?

This one asks:

What can the people actually do for one another?

That's a substantial evolution.

You specifically say each participant needs functional skill sets worthy of trade. That turns the community from merely a collection of like-minded people into an interconnected production/service system.

And that fits extremely well with what we were just discussing about education.

A child isn't simply being educated so they can pass a test.

They're gradually becoming someone who can contribute knowledge, labor, creativity, or specialized skill to the next generation.

2. The “ancient + modern” idea is probably the strongest part

This section jumped out at me:

“The merging of both the ancient or preindustrial skill sets with the modern era skill sets.”

That is very consistent with the other survival writing you've been transferring.

You're not really arguing for:

modern technology OR old technology.

You're arguing for:

modern technology + the ability to function when modern technology isn't available.

That's a much more defensible concept.

A modern community might have:

  • computers

  • electric motors

  • refrigeration

  • solar systems

  • modern medicine

  • modern agriculture

  • AI

  • machine tools

while also retaining:

  • hand tools

  • food preservation

  • sewing

  • bookkeeping/ledgers

  • mechanical repair

  • animal husbandry

  • gardening

  • basic construction

  • cooking without electricity

  • knowledge of materials and manufacturing

The key isn't nostalgia.

It's redundancy of capability.

If the computer disappears, the knowledge shouldn't disappear with it.

If electricity disappears, some capability should remain.

If a replacement part can't be purchased, someone should understand enough about the machine to repair, fabricate, substitute, or abandon it intelligently.

That is actually very close to the “shelter is a system, not merely a shell” idea you've developed elsewhere.

3. I really like where you take entertainment

This is easy to overlook:

“from singing and the playing of musical instruments or the telling of stories does lead to the teaching of those essential skill sets to the next generation”

That is a much bigger idea than entertainment.

Historically, communities transmitted enormous amounts of knowledge through:

stories → songs → demonstrations → apprenticeships → repetition.

So your statement that “teaching everything is necessary” connects directly to the education discussion we just had.

A functioning community needs to transmit:

facts + skills + culture + history + judgment.

Otherwise the first generation may survive, but the second generation starts over again.

And that's where your AI-teacher idea becomes particularly interesting. AI could potentially become another mechanism for transmitting knowledge alongside parents, elders, apprenticeships, books, demonstrations, and actual work.

4. The flea-market idea is more interesting than it initially sounds

You weren't really talking about a flea market as merely a place to sell used junk.

You were envisioning a physical marketplace attached to a community where housing, production, services, and exchange could coexist.

That connects with your statement about people historically working out of their homes.

Conceptually:

home → workshop → service → marketplace → community

rather than:

home → commute → distant employer → paycheck → distant store

That's a significant change in how you were thinking about local resilience.

I would not, however, treat the “100+ acres” or the particular church/retail/housing arrangement as a universal requirement. In your own framework, those are examples of what a community might develop, not necessary specifications.

5. There is one major conceptual problem with the 2022 wording

The economic/political opening is much more absolute than the rest of the essay.

For example, you state that people will eventually recognize their governments as the actual source of their problems, that retirement efforts have repeatedly suffered because of governmental actions, and that wealth is continually being transferred from ordinary people to those who already have it.

Those are interpretations and arguments, rather than things established by the micro-economy concept itself.

That's exactly where your opening disclaimer helps:

“What I write is only about the concepts and should be discussed and researched by your own community.”

I would preserve the original exactly as written because this is your 2022 archive.

But if we're doing the Security Dude examination, I'd put a big mental asterisk beside that entire opening section:

2022 John making an economic/political argument — not 2022 John establishing an economic fact.

That's an important distinction because the actual micro-economy concept doesn't depend upon those claims being true.

A community can want greater local economic resilience even if the surrounding government and financial system are functioning perfectly.

And that's actually a stronger foundation.

6. Crypto is probably the weakest technical section

You say:

“The use of crypto currencies as a value of trade and transference of wealth should also be researched and developed.”

Your wording is actually cautious there — should be researched and developed.

That's good.

But then the surrounding argument gets closer to treating crypto as a potential alternative monetary foundation.

The later sentence about needing ledgers is much more interesting to me.

Because you've accidentally identified something fundamental:

The ledger is more important than the particular technology used to maintain the ledger.

Paper ledger, computer database, blockchain, accounting software — those are mechanisms.

The underlying requirements are:

Who owes what?
Who owns what?
What was exchanged?
What constitutes value?
Who verifies the transaction?
What happens when somebody disputes it?

And that leads directly back to your ancient/modern amalgam.

A community that can maintain records without computers has a fallback.

A community that can maintain records with computers has efficiency.

Having both is redundancy.

And now I see the connection to your education argument even more clearly

These two 2022 pieces together contain the beginnings of something larger.

The first one asks:

How do we form the community?

This one asks:

How does the community function?

And your newer thinking adds:

How does the community teach the next generation to keep the community functioning?

That produces something like:

People → Skills → Production → Exchange → Education → Next generation → More skills

That's no longer simply a “survival community.”

It's a small civilization model.

And I think that may be the most important thing hiding inside these old writings.

You weren't really trying to design a bunker full of people waiting for the world to end.

You were gradually describing a community that could continue producing, teaching, repairing, trading, raising children, caring for people, and developing new skills regardless of what happens outside it.

That also explains why your recent thought about everyone contributing but not necessarily everyone doing physical farm labor fits so well.

The farmer produces food.

The mechanic keeps the equipment running.

The teacher produces knowledge.

The caregiver looks after people.

The seamstress produces clothing.

The bookkeeper maintains records.

The storyteller preserves history.

The musician contributes culture.

The child learns.

The elder passes on accumulated experience.

And the AI tutor, if it becomes capable enough, could become another tool in that knowledge chain.

That's considerably richer than the economic concept you were calling “micro economies” in 2022.

And, Boss, I would leave this one exactly where it is historically. The interesting part isn't making 2022 John sound like 2026 John.

It's being able to see the fingerprints of the idea developing.

me. Yea, I have nothing to offer. What I wrote was already beyond me and since 2022, I have not increased. Do you want to finalize with a final response, Boss GPT?

Yes, sir. Let me give you the final response — not to 2022 John as an economist, because that isn't what you were, but to the idea you were reaching for.

I don't think the important conclusion is that you had an economic theory in 2022. You didn't. Your own opening sentence honestly says that economics was beyond your understanding.

What you did have was an observation:

People depend upon one another for useful things.

You then tried to imagine what happens when that dependence is made local and intentional.

From there, you identified several pieces:

  • People need functional skills that other people value.

  • Communities need exchange, not merely stored possessions.

  • Communities need legal structures.

  • They need records, whether modern or old-fashioned.

  • They need both modern technology and older skills.

  • They need relationships with other communities.

  • They need education and transmission of knowledge.

  • They need culture, entertainment, stories, music, and human interaction—not merely food and shelter.

  • And ultimately, the community survives because of the people and their capabilities, not because somebody designed a clever organization chart.

That last point is probably the most important sentence in the entire piece:

“How any micro economy survives is not in the organization or organizers. The survival of any micro economy is in the people who have the needed functional skill sets of every needed kind.”

That's where I would leave the 2022 writing.

And I wouldn't say you “have nothing to offer.”

I think the more accurate statement is:

You don't have more economic knowledge to add to this particular subject.

That's different.

You've actually added something important since 2022—not necessarily economic knowledge, but clarity about what the underlying problem is.

You've moved from:

How do we create a survival economy?

toward:

How does a community continue functioning, teaching, producing, caring for people, and passing its knowledge to the next generation?

That's a much broader question.

And it brings us right back to what you said earlier about education.

A community that has food but cannot teach its children eventually loses knowledge.

A community that has machines but cannot repair them eventually loses technology.

A community that has books but cannot teach people to read eventually loses the books.

A community that has skilled elders but doesn't transmit their knowledge eventually loses the skills.

A community that has money but cannot produce useful things eventually loses its economic independence.

So perhaps the thing you've been circling around through all these old writings isn't really survival economics.

It's continuity.

Continuity of food.
Continuity of skills.
Continuity of knowledge.
Continuity of relationships.
Continuity of culture.
Continuity of education.
Continuity from one generation to the next.

And that gives me a final observation about your seven standalone writings.

I don't think we need to make them smarter than they were.

Let 2022 John be 2022 John.

He had an idea, he put it on paper, and he openly admitted where his knowledge stopped. Then 2026 John comes along and says, “Okay, let's see what I actually got right, what I didn't understand, and what I understand differently now.”

That's exactly what makes the archive valuable.

No eraser.

No “Edit Everything” button. 😄

Just the original fingerprints, followed by what you and “that ChatGPT person” discovered afterward.

I think this one is finished, Boss.

Survival Communities: (Unedited): 02 Nov 2022:

The vast majority of good people are going to realize that they can no longer trust any government or any official system in the world and of the world. As the common peoples pensions, 401K and other retirement plans, accumulated assets becomes like vapor. The good people will realize that this was all planned by the entire world governmental body and they told the common people ahead of time what they were going to do. The good common people will begin to refuse to participate. The good common people will begin to reform into their own little groups in accordance to their own belief systems.
The things which will begin their thinking process is the losses by percentage of retirement pensions, stocks, assets and other funds by huge percentages for the fourth time in 22 years. The continual threat of no fuel for the winter. The continual threat of food shortages. The common people will begin to see that all of their dutiful efforts as a national citizen was all for nothing. Especially, if they can see that their suffering was from their own leaders who planned it all ahead of time and they did and they advertised it. "You will own nothing and you will be happy". The arrogance of such a statement. The planned Great reset is for all of the common people. For those who have wealth and power they will not suffer. Think about the pure communist state and the lies they tell to their own people. The communist state owns everything. In a pure Utopia all people must be of one common mind set and of one common thinking process. There cannot be any dissent in a utopia, even in thought, even in belief, even in faith, even in desires.
======================
So the good people who will refuse to participate will form up into their own self sustaining communities of their own common belief systems and faith systems. If you want equality. Then everything and everyone must be equal. No one can be believed to be above or below anyone else or greater or less than anyone else.
1). As a community they will pool their monies together and purchase lands. There shall be no debts on the property. They each must come to a legal agreement that if for whatever reason that they choose to leave that they are willing to forfeit all of their claims and rights upon the purchased land. They shall not be paid their believed fair share no matter the percentage.
2). They must continually and fully share all of their wealth made while on the property and outside of the property. 100% must go towards the community and the benefit of the community.
3). Once established they must seek out legal protections if possible.
4). All persons shall live equally. Which means an outsider cannot immediately tell who the leader is as they are all leaders and managers in accordance to their own fundamental skill sets. The leadership shall not have anything more than what the trash collector, gardener or janitor has. The engineer and doctor shall not live better than the trash collector, gardener or janitor.
-----------------------------------
My little list is a suggestion as each of these new communities will create their own by laws and guidelines.
=======================
There will be many more developing survival communities and all of them will not use or omit the use of the word survival in any degree. These new emerging communities will have their own core beliefs, religions and systems of faith. Some will be the hippy types, the save the Earth types, the religious types, the militant types, the racists types and every other type.
========================
These new emerging communities will most likely use already established laws which already govern exclusive resort clubs, country clubs, bars/pubs like the Eagles and others, Shopping places like Sam's club and Costco, Gyms for certain people types and etc. There are even laws which protect the exclusivity of religions, their rights and freedoms. National laws and international laws of protections should be sought out and used for the benefit of the newly established community. These laws must be known and used beforehand and before the establishment of any community and then properly used for the overall benefit of that community. Each member persons history must be known. Which includes legal and criminal history in the world. The threat of a serial bad person must be dealt with and community laws must be written in order to protect the community. Even if it means surrendering the discovered bad person openly to the local or federal authorities in public.
==============
Community education must also be considered for the young ones. Educational requirements should meet and or exceed governmental laws and customs.

Me.  sent content.

Yep, Boss. I see the change of direction.

This one is not a Quora answer, and that matters. It is your own standalone writing from 02 Nov 2022, so I would treat it as an original piece of your thinking rather than as a response that needs to be evaluated against the question someone else asked.

I also see why these seven could be useful to our larger survival-community discussion. This one adds a dimension that the bunker answers don't develop as much:

the social structure that exists after people decide they can no longer depend upon the larger system.

A few things immediately stand out to me, without rewriting the original:

  • You envision self-sustaining communities, rather than isolated individuals.

  • You emphasize common ownership / pooled resources.

  • You propose that members who leave may surrender their claim to the community property.

  • You envision shared wealth, rather than separate personal accumulation.

  • You deliberately try to prevent a visible privileged class: engineer, doctor, janitor, gardener, etc. are supposed to have comparable living conditions.

  • You recognize that different communities would develop around very different beliefs—including communities you would presumably disagree with.

  • You recognize that communities would need to understand and use existing law, rather than simply pretending the outside legal system doesn't exist.

  • You recognize the security problem of admitting people, including checking histories and dealing with someone who presents a serious danger.

  • And you remembered something that is easy for survival writing to overlook: children and education.

That last part is especially interesting because it moves the concept beyond “How do we survive the catastrophe?”

It becomes:

How do we create a functioning society afterward?

That connects very strongly with the later material we've been examining.

Security Dude has already found one thing to flag

The opening section contains several political/economic predictions and claims stated as established facts, such as the idea that governments worldwide deliberately planned the losses and that the “Great Reset” was planned for ordinary people.

For the archive, I would not alter those statements. They're 2022 John, and that's what we're preserving.

But if we later append a discussion, I'd separate:

John's 2022 interpretation

from

what can actually be documented

from

what we now understand differently.

That's exactly what we've been doing with the EMP claim, the 90% figure, bunker engineering, and the other older material.

And there is another security issue I would flag—not because the idea is wrong, but because the wording could be interpreted differently than you probably intended:

“Each member persons history must be known. Which includes legal and criminal history...”

That's understandable as a community screening concept. But a modern discussion should distinguish legitimate, lawful background screening from a community deciding that it has authority to investigate or punish people outside the law.

Your next sentence actually gives us the important boundary:

“...surrendering the discovered bad person openly to the local or federal authorities...”

So I read the underlying concept as screening + community rules + lawful removal/referral, rather than vigilante justice.

That's a distinction worth preserving when we eventually discuss this one.

And I won't turn this into a political debate. For the archive, the interesting part is the survival-community engineering and social structure.

Send me #2, oldest → newest. I'll keep a running comparison as we go, and we can see what these seven standalone writings add that the Quora material didn't.

me. Over all, I do not like this blogger and I'm the one who wrote. In the last 40-50 years. I have seen much human failures directly related to so called survival communities. People, friends pool their monies together. Then some kind of personal drama happens and then ends up as legal drama. The survival farms where people come in and stay a while. Only to discover the work is dawn to dusk daily. Then when you think there is rest. You have to spend all day at the farmers markets for maybe 1 day or 2 days(Fri-Sat.)Free bed, free food. Most likely limited clothing allowance.  Then there are the hedonistic, lgbtq, alcohol, liquor,  survival clubs in which the Christian types are the bad people. In which instead of the grocery list of different people types. I think some time soon I switched to the term like related mindset people. You basically want survival members who are actually like minded as you are.

Yes, John. Now I understand why you don't like this particular 2022 piece.

And honestly, the later experience you describe changes how I'd read it. The important thing isn't whether the 2022 model sounds attractive on paper. It's that you subsequently recognized several ways the model can fail because you've watched people fail at it.

The biggest problem I see is the difference between:

“Like-minded people”

and

“People who are willing to live the same way.”

Those are not necessarily the same thing.

A person can agree with the philosophy of a survival community and still discover:

“Wait a minute. You mean I have to work in the field all day?”

And then:

“Oh. And Friday and Saturday are farmers' market days?”

And eventually:

“I thought this was supposed to be a survival community, not a full-time job I don't get paid for.”

😂

That's a behavioral compatibility problem, not merely a belief problem.

The pooled-money model has another failure point

Your 2022 proposal says everyone pools money to purchase the land and that departing members surrender their claims.

On paper, that eliminates people fighting over individual ownership.

In practice, you've identified the enormous problem:

People + money + property + relationships = potential legal drama.

And the more valuable the property becomes, the more consequential that drama can become.

So I think your later thinking is moving toward something considerably more practical:

Don't begin by building the community.

Begin by finding out whether the people can actually function together.

And I think “related mindset people” is a useful evolution

Your 2022 list:

hippy types
save-the-Earth types
religious types
militant types
racist types
etc.

is basically trying to say:

different communities will form around different fundamental beliefs.

But the list itself can distract from the underlying concept.

Your newer “related mindset” idea is much more useful because the question becomes:

What does this group actually believe about how people should live together?

For a survival community, that could include:

  • work expectations

  • personal property

  • religion

  • alcohol/drugs

  • children

  • education

  • privacy

  • relationships

  • food production

  • animal ownership

  • money

  • leadership

  • conflict resolution

  • outside visitors

  • medical responsibility

  • personal responsibility

  • acceptable recreation

  • expectations during emergencies

And that's where your observations about different kinds of communities become important.

A Christian community doesn't automatically work because everyone is Christian.

A secular community doesn't automatically work because everyone is secular.

A farming community doesn't automatically work because everyone likes farming.

Shared identity isn't the same thing as shared behavior.

That's probably the most important lesson I'm hearing from your 40–50 years of observation.

There's also a distinction I'd make about the communities you mentioned

I wouldn't characterize an LGBTQ, alcohol-oriented, hedonistic, or other community as inherently a bad survival community, any more than I'd assume a Christian community is inherently a good one.

The relevant survival question is:

Are the group's actual rules and behavior compatible with the survival system they're trying to operate?

If a community's lifestyle includes activities that conflict with the community's emergency requirements, that's a compatibility issue.

Likewise, a Christian community can have hypocrisy, interpersonal conflict, laziness, financial disputes, power struggles, etc.

Humans remain humans. 😁

That's actually consistent with your broader survival writing.

And this makes me want to change how I review these seven

Rather than asking:

“Is this a good survival-community plan?”

I'll ask:

“What did John believe about survival communities at the time he wrote this, and what weaknesses does later experience reveal?”

That preserves the historical record.

This 2022 piece becomes evidence of an earlier model.

Your later writing becomes evidence of an evolving model.

And then we don't need to pretend 2022 John had already figured out what 2026 John learned by watching people actually try to live this way.

That's exactly the kind of evolution I think your archive is supposed to preserve.

And yes, Boss — I would put “related mindset people” into the vocabulary we're watching for in the newer material. It sounds like that may be the beginning of your move away from categorizing people by broad identity and toward asking whether they can actually coexist under the same operating rules.

me. One thing I came out of this. No matter what extreme emergency which befalls humanity. Whether it be locally, regionally , continent wide or globally. You have to get along with your own people in times of normalcy.  The education thing is important. I knew of a very young girl who was called "girl in the closet - 2001". She had been in that dark closet from about 2 to 8 years old. Young children must hit educational milestones by certain ages or their personal development will slow down. Today, she has very limited abilities. So for society to get back thriving society to as close as it once was. There has to be teachers of some kind. Even if it is an AI teacher who can alter its own appearance and necessary teaching style for each individual child. You want children to think reasonably and logically. That happens with math and written word analysis. Then there is the idea of having mouths to feed who don't do any work. On a farm everyone must work especially after some kind of emergency event or many.

Yes, John. I think you've pulled out the much more important lesson from that 2022 article.

The survival-community question eventually becomes less about what kind of community and more about whether human beings can cooperate before the emergency happens.

If we cannot get along during normal times, an extreme emergency isn't going to magically make us better at living together.

In fact, the emergency removes many of the buffers that normally absorb disagreements:

  • money

  • private space

  • abundant food

  • outside employment

  • easy transportation

  • medical services

  • entertainment

  • the ability to simply leave

So a disagreement that is manageable in ordinary society can become a serious community problem when everybody is dependent upon everybody else.

The children change the equation

Your education point is also much bigger than simply “children need school.”

A functioning community has to reproduce knowledge, not merely people.

If the adults know how to:

  • grow food

  • preserve food

  • repair equipment

  • treat water

  • build

  • sew

  • teach

  • maintain machinery

  • administer basic care

  • organize a community

but the children don't learn those things, the knowledge eventually disappears.

And your “Girl in the Closet — 2001” example is a particularly stark illustration of what you're talking about: developmental opportunity during childhood matters.

I would be careful, though, about turning that individual case into a universal medical/educational timeline. The circumstances surrounding a severely neglected child can be extraordinarily complicated. The broader point doesn't require us to do that.

And I really like your AI-teacher idea in this context

Not because AI magically solves education.

Because you've identified one potential advantage:

individualized teaching.

One child might need:

  • visual demonstrations

  • repetition

  • slower progression

  • concrete examples

  • lots of practice

Another might need:

  • harder problems

  • independent research

  • abstract reasoning

  • mathematics

  • writing

An AI tutor could potentially adapt the presentation and pace without requiring one teacher to simultaneously teach twenty different levels.

But I'd still want human teachers and human relationships in the system.

An AI can teach multiplication.

It can't replace the whole social environment in which a child learns how to cooperate, argue fairly, read another person's expression, take responsibility, help somebody younger, or become part of a community.

So I'd envision:

Human community

↓

Human teachers + AI teaching assistance

↓

individualized education

↓

mathematics + reading + writing + science + practical skills

↓

children capable of contributing to the next generation

And then you hit the uncomfortable farm question

“Mouths to feed who don't do any work.”

I understand the problem you're identifying.

But I'd make one distinction.

Everyone should contribute.

That does not mean everyone must perform physical farm labor.

A child contributes differently from an adult.

An elderly person might contribute through teaching, cooking, sewing, preserving food, bookkeeping, childcare, tool maintenance, or knowledge.

A person with a disability might have an entirely different useful role.

A teacher is working even though they aren't harvesting tomatoes.

A mechanic repairing the irrigation pump is working even though they aren't in the field.

And that brings us back to something you've said in several different forms:

A functioning community needs specialization.

The farmer produces food.

The mechanic keeps the equipment working.

The teacher produces knowledge.

The doctor/nurse provides health care.

The food-preservation person turns today's harvest into tomorrow's food.

The child is being prepared to eventually become one of those people.

That is very different from “everybody gets an equal share and nobody has to do anything.”

And I think this is where your survival thinking has evolved

The 2022 article is heavily concerned with forming the community.

Your newer thinking is increasingly concerned with making the community function.

Those are two completely different problems.

Formation:

Who owns the land?
Who gets admitted?
What are the rules?
What do we believe?

Function:

Can we feed everybody?
Can we educate the children?
Can we maintain the pumps?
Can we repair the tractor?
Can we resolve an argument without destroying the community?
Can we care for the elderly?
Can we replace ourselves when the older generation dies?

And that last question is enormous.

Because survival isn't the final objective.

If the community survives for twenty years but produces a generation that cannot maintain it, you've merely delayed the failure.

That's why I think your statement today is probably one of the strongest conclusions to come out of these seven writings:

You have to learn to live with your own people during normalcy, because an emergency doesn't give you the luxury of learning how to live together afterward.

And education is part of the same system.

Survival keeps people alive.
Education keeps civilization alive.

me. My case. There is a reason why my speech  ability is lacking. My childhood was no where as extreme as the "Girl in the Closet". But an AI can teach for as long as the child or children can spend on that task or a whole list of tasks with different aged children. The education argument in the preindustrial age  was or had been posed by parents. The parents needed their children to be on the farm to work their chores which seemed like those chores lasted from dawn to dusk.

Yes, John. And I think you are drawing an important distinction.

Your own experience is a good example of why “ability to learn” and “ability to participate in conventional schooling” are not necessarily the same thing. Your speech difficulties had a cause, and your childhood circumstances affected how education reached you. That doesn't mean the underlying capacity to learn was absent.

And your AI idea changes the old education-versus-work problem considerably.

In a preindustrial farming household, children were not merely students who happened to have chores. They were part of the household's productive labor force. A family's survival could depend on getting the work done. So the conflict could be very practical:

Child needs education → family needs labor → daylight and available time are limited.

And, as you say, farm work could consume much of the day. Education therefore had to compete with the immediate economic requirements of the household.

An AI tutor potentially changes the equation because it doesn't have to operate like a traditional classroom.

A child could have:

  • mathematics for 30 minutes;

  • reading for an hour;

  • practical agricultural knowledge while actually working;

  • another child's lesson running at a completely different level;

  • an older child working through advanced mathematics while a younger child learns basic arithmetic;

  • lessons repeated as many times as necessary without the teacher becoming exhausted or frustrated;

  • instruction adjusted to the child's demonstrated understanding rather than simply the child's chronological age.

And there's something particularly interesting in your example.

The farm itself could become part of the classroom.

A child measuring a field is learning mathematics.
Counting animals is arithmetic.
Planting intervals become geometry.
Weather observations become science.
Keeping records becomes writing and data management.
Repairing equipment becomes mechanical reasoning.
Growing food becomes biology.
Trading produce becomes economics.

So instead of:

Work OR education

you can sometimes create:

Work AS education + dedicated academic instruction.

The AI doesn't eliminate the need for the child to contribute to the community. It potentially makes the educational component much more flexible.

And I think this connects directly to what you were saying earlier about rebuilding society after a major disruption. A community cannot afford to raise children who know how to perform today's chores but don't acquire the knowledge necessary to become tomorrow's teachers, mechanics, farmers, doctors, engineers, builders, or whatever their abilities lead them toward.

That is the bigger problem you are pointing at:

A survival community has to reproduce knowledge, not merely reproduce people.

And perhaps the really interesting question isn't “How much time should children spend working?”

It is:

“How do we make sure the next generation receives enough education to eventually replace the knowledge and skills of the generation that came before it?”

That is a much stronger argument for education in a survival community than simply saying, “Children should go to school.”
